My students absolutely amaze me! I say this because my special needs class has been remote for the past year and a half and have turned into computer wizzes. During remote instruction their technology skills improved greatly. This was a class that went from not even being able to click the mouse to now presenting their screen during a remote class. My students also learned how to research and type up homework assignments. With all the technology skills my students have learned during remote instruction, I feel it is important to embrace this as a teacher. In my classroom, my students would be able to use these tablets to complete their assignments, research a topic, or even play a game at choice time. They could transport it to and from school so it could be used for homework as well. Many of my students also have speech delays therefore it could also be used as a communication device. My students would benefit greatly from having these tablets and cases in our classroom. I want to be able to support this new technology skill into their education that they have learned during their time remotely.
