I work with special needs students who have developmental delays, autism, and various other mental impairments. They are fun, loving, kids who enjoy interacting with electronic devices and playing games. Although these games are skill building and challenging, they are interactive and exciting. They learn how to maneuver a tablet and can learn important skills necessary to function and develop, not only in the classroom, but at home and in the community. I work with students from PreK - high school. The iPad will allow access to apps for matching and tracing skills to meal planning and community planning tasks. Many of my students come from low-income, underprivileged homes. Some of my students don't have access to electronic devices once leaving school. This tool will give them the necessary experience and accessibility of use during school to expose and help develop skills including, eye hand coordination, visual motor integration, visual attention, fine and gross motor skills.
