My students love wipe off boards and markers. In our math curriculum, wipe off boards are required. They become very engaged in the lesson when they get to write then wipe! Hands on manipulatives are key to helping the students learn concepts in 2nd grade. Other than paper and pencil, any other hands on manipulatives really booster the students' curiosity and desire to engage in the lessons. It has been my experience after 22 years of teaching that wipe off boards, wipe off markers and erasers are some of the best tools to use to get students excited to participate.
