My students will use the art materials to grow and learn across the curriculum. Children will practice making letters, numbers and words in paint, clay, pencils, markers and stamps. They will write and illustrate narrative and nonfiction stories, make cards and letters for friends and family, create puppets and masks for retelling stories and demonstrate their knowledge of shapes, counting, addition and subtraction through visual tools. Kindergarteners love to create with their hands. Offering them a variety of materials to choose from will allow children the opportunity to explore and experience different sensations and strategies, as well as the ability to represent themselves uniquely. The book about drawing will help me to better instruct my students in illustrative techniques. Drawing is the first way that kindergarteners learn to represent their ideas. I will be able to build my students' confidence through step by step instructions and guided practice.
