My students will embark on a new journey into independent reading this coming fall. Along with a new county wide curriculum, teachers will be asking students to embrace reading like never before. My students will be able to use these tablets on a daily basis to keep up with their reading, and not feel pressured into buying physical books. My students need access to a diverse variety of genres and authors and our classroom library will not be enough. My students will also benefit from being able to click the read aloud option that a tablet provides, as well as a touch screen dictionary for difficult words or passages. My students will also benefit from the variety of apps available on the Amazon Fires. My students will also have access to their online textbook and account when using the tablets. My average class size ranges from 32-40 students, where we battle for technology with not only the rest of the school, but also within our own classroom. These tablets will enhance the learning environment in my classroom tremendously.
