While taking a brain break during our first week of school, some students noted that part of their "learning styles" are being kinesthetic learners who can move while they are working. The students described how they would love to be able to work in different areas of the classroom just as they do at home. Our second grade curriculum focuses heavily on high-stakes learning concepts and often leaves out important time for fitness and health. Students will be able to use these stools in different areas of the classroom to support their needs to wiggle while they learn. Wobble stools will allow my students to move while channeling their energy on remaining focused and attentive to their learning. This project will help students to be more mobile while they are working independently or in their small groups. Many students have a hard time staying attentive while sitting all day in uncomfortable chairs. These comfortable, movable stools will benefit each and every student as they get the chance to use them. These stools will give students the chance to stay engaged with their learning. Because of the time constraints our curriculum puts on our daily physical activities, use of Wobble stools will enable students to see how effective physical movement is in engaging the brain, promoting activity in the classroom and in other parts of our day. Students will be able to get their wiggles out in a way that is not disruptive to themselves or others. Your donation will give my students the chance to integrate movement and learning to promote their future academic success. The scoop chairs give the kids the opportunity to relax, get comfortable, and move while they are reading if needed. They will allow the students to get comfortable and read a good book.
