My school is located in a rural area that boasts a community of extremely hard-working people. While the economic status of the majority of these families may not be the highest, you would not know it. You would notice the beautiful small town with a tight-knit community of people supporting each other and helping when needed. Because of this strong mentality, we tend to "make it work" with the materials and supplies that we have. Although this may mean using books in poor condition or having dated desks that can be louder (squeak!) than the kids, there are no complaints. I think this is a testament to our ability to be content with our current lot. With that said, I know that when these students receive new books, materials, or supplies they take great pride in and care for the items. It would be such an exciting honor to be able to tell them that someone out there helped them receive something great!
