I am privileged to teach in the same school district where I completed my K-12 schooling. It is a low-income district where most of the students come from Spanish-speaking households. Because of the language barrier, many don't receive any support at home. Having grown up in the same city with parents that didn't speak the language, I can relate directly to their daily challenges which is why I make it my mission each day to provide engaging instruction with lessons that are both rigorous and fun. I try my best to maximize learning by integrating physical activity, art, and music across the curriculum to satisfy all learning styles. At the same time, I train the students to be active learners that take ownership of their own progress and success. These are key components in making sure that they reach their academic potential and become socially prepared for middle school and beyond.
