Students will use these books to learn about the 13 Principles of Black Lives Matter (restorative justice, diversity, unapologetically black, queer affirming, etc.) and about creating a welcoming classroom free from bias-based bullying. These books will allow my students to see themselves, their families, and their traditions represented and explore people, families, and traditions that are different from their own. My hope is to create a welcoming classroom community where students openly discuss race, gender, and inclusion, and these books will be the jumping off point for their discussions and learning!
