The books will provide students with many reading and language learning opportunities, increase interest, and contribute to their oral and independent reading ability during small group learning center instruction. Leveled books will be used in kindergarten to build print awareness, concepts of print, and beginning reading skills. Students will have a choice of books at their level, which will strengthen a connection with literature and foster a love of reading. Picture books will provide frequent moments for discussion and language development.
