My children really need shelves and organizers to keep all of their supplies easily accessible to them. The most organized a classroom is the more instructional time for student learning is saved. The shelves and organizers will be an extreme help. Since our school is a much older and the floor is pretty hard, I don't have a comfortable place for my children to sit other than their chairs. Of course, my children have the traditional desks and chairs, but what child wants to spend all day in a seat? My children certain do not. They absolutely love to move. I believe that flexible sitting during independent learning time and whole class discussions can create a sense of classroom community and includes all the students. Therefore, all children can be engaged while having room to sit freely. I chose a big enough rug so that my children who choose to do independent work on the floor can be comfortable.
