Because of the lack of consistent in-person classroom learning, practice for basic math skills was not as rigorous as it has been in past years. Therefore the basic knowledge of multiplication facts needs more hands-on, consistent practice. These facts should have been mastered by the fifth grade, but are not and will hinder the students' future progress in math. They need to be able to concentrate on new concepts and not be hung up on basic facts. Being able to help students with these math facts will set them up for future success.
