The students I work with are in an urban, low income area of North Holllywood. Most of the students receive free or reduced lunches. The obstacles they face outside of the classroom do not affect their yearning to learn. They are curious and ambitious. They show enthusiasm to learn especially when presented with hands-on tools to help increase understanding.
