My students come from diverse backgrounds and academic experiences. They are charismatic, enthusiastic, and excited to create their own math resource books this year. I teach in a high poverty urban school where many students come in with other stressors weighing heavily on their minds and for some affording basic school supplies amplifies that stress. Despite these challenges many of my students are incredibly hard working and appreciative of the resources I am able to share with them. Some of my students are several grade levels behind in math or reading and are constantly working and looking for resources to help themselves get caught up. Some students may not see their full potential yet, but there is nothing better than seeing a students face when they pass their first test or understand a concept they previously thought was impossible.
