Having Kindle e-readers in a reading class allows students to access books that can sync an audio version with the written version. This can help students who struggle to visualize what they are reading to improve their reading comprehension. It also allows older students with lower reading levels to access higher lexile books than they could read on their own. This improves their vocabulary and their chance to find books that will interest them. I organize my students into book clubs where they can choose a book to discuss with their peers as they read the book together. When students participate in book clubs it helps their reading comprehension, their social skills and their oral skills. It also allows them to choose books that they are interested in.
