Research tells us that classroom libraries are critical to student reading success. Recent studies recommend that classrooms have a library of at least 300 books. To be effective, the class library should address a variety of subjects. A class library will help my students become better readers, get them engaged and excited about learning. The class library will put new books right at my students’ fingertips. It will encourage students to practice and learn new independent reading strategies. It will help them explore the world around them. And most importantly it will challenge them to learn about the world around them!
