Young children are active learners who need tangible objects to move from concrete experiences to abstract reasoning. For example, students having money or clocks in their hands will enhance their knowledge of real-world skills through an active process. Math manipulatives are a key in providing effective, active, and engaging lessons. These objects will help my students develop the math skills that they need in order to be successful in second grade, the next grade, and in our ever-changing world. They will make learning math interesting and enjoyable. They will also give students the choice of working on a page of problems or solving a problem with colorful and interestingly shaped blocks. These manipulatives will help intrigue and motivate my students to learn.
