In order for our students to be successful, they need to learn in environments that foster their physical and emotional development. Flexible seating options will not only empower our students' ability to have student choice in their learning environments, but they will help our students be more focused and alert physically.
Currently, our students are working in a classroom that is very limited in space with no flexible seating options. Their chairs are uncomfortable and they fall off the stools they sit on. We will need different shaped tables that will give us more space by also providing flexible seating options. We can adjust the height of the tables so students will be allowed to sit lower to the ground or adjust them so students who prefer to stand while working can do so. In addition, the tables will give our students opportunities to collaborate, which will improve their academic standing and build their 21st century worker skills.
We are in need of sturdy stools that the students won't have the fear of falling down from. Stools are more easy to move around the room and will be helpful during small group teaching time. We will need inflated air filled stability balance seats. These seats are perfect for students who have trouble staying still and will give them the stimuli they need without being disruptive to others.
All these materials will provide us with opportunities to change our classroom environment to meet the needs of our students.
