Scientific calculators will go a long way in supporting my students, both in and outside of my classroom to develop their scientific and mathematical thinking skills. As a result of teaching Physics in 9th Grade, there is alignment between concepts in physics and the math my students are learning concurrently in Algebra I. Since physics at its core is applied mathematics, I am able to reinforce students' growing knowledge through real-world applications and word problems. Bringing calculators into the classroom will allow my students to engage with more rigorous problems that replicate real-world applications. Additionally, preparing my students to be proficient in advanced mathematics and physics will enable them to be successful in their future in college and careers.
