I would like a class set of chromebooks and headphones in order to allow my 7th grade math students to access pre-recorded lessons in the classroom or even at home. Headphone splitters for the times in class that they will use them in pairs or groups. My project will allow students to go at their own pace. To pause and replay any parts of the lesson that they didn't understand. I will be able to identify small groups of students who need more help and work with them while others are taking notes from the videos. The vidoes will even allow students to access lessons from home in case they want to be prepared ahead of time or are absent. Students may come to class with questions about the lesson. This will also save time and allow them to have more time practicing the skills with a teacher present rather than at home were no adult may be present. They will be better able to take learning into their own hands. I have seen examples of a Flipped Classroom where student MUST access the materials from home. Some students do not have internet access at home to do this, while others may not have time to due to other responsibilities. This idea is different because that is optional since they are doing that in class. They are going at their pace so that they can better learn and retain the information. I plan to have the weeks worth of lessons prepared by Monday. This will also help in the chance that I am absent. Students can still learn the topic and not have to have "busy" work with a substitute.
