Our school puts great emphasis on differentiation. We strive to provide students learning opportunities which incorporate all of the learning modalities to ensure we reach all students. Retelling a story is a research-based learning experience for children. These felt board pieces will be used for play-based learning. Felt board pieces used for retelling a story are great learning tools for children who learn best by touching (tactile), children who are visual learners, and children who are auditory learners. The felt board experience touches on multiple learning modalities, which is why it is such a rich learning tool. I remember learning with felt board pieces as a child, and I know my students will learn from them, too.
