I have found that modeling is a valuable teaching strategy that sets students up for success, whether it be the teacher modeling a process, concept or skill, or a student demonstrating for his/her peers. A document camera allows for students to observe every detail and easily view a lesson or demonstration. Having an epson document camera as a resource will allow me to provide visual and tactile lessons that will engage a variety of learners. It can be used to enhance lessons and activities across subject matter. Modeling a skill or concept with a document camera allows students to visualize expectations and make connections to what they are learning by projecting materials and processes up on the smartboard. It can be used as an interactive tool, by projecting the textbooks and manipulatives the students are familiar with in the classroom and allowing them to highlight areas of a book or use the manipulatives to show a math problem. I love the video option on the Epson DC-07. I think it would be a fun way for the students to record themselves and present an idea, retell a story, or give information from something the students have researched. I think every teacher should have access to such a great tool! I would love to have this as a resource in my classroom!!
