My students are from an impoverished area in rural Oklahoma, and most of them are from single-parent homes. We are building a sense of togetherness and developing a strong work ethic that will continue far beyond the walls of this classroom. The students do not take much for granted because they often lack the kinds of necessities that many people don't even take time to consider. They cherish what they are given.
