I am looking to increase literacy concepts and instill an absolute joy and love for reading in all of my students. I teach fourth grade at a high poverty public school. Many of my fourth graders are Hispanic from non-English speaking low-income families and have academic challenges in areas of literacy. In order to increase their literacy skills my students need to spend lots of time reading. I believe every child possesses the love of reading, it is just the matter of finding that perfect book that will grab them in. Due to limited funding at school, it is hard to stock my classroom library with high interest reads for all of my students. In order to encourage reading in my classroom and at home it is vital I have books to place into the hands of my young readers. Your support truly matters. Every time one of my students reads a book you are supporting accomplishment, learning, and the character of my students!
