The BreakoutEdu games can be used across the curriculum. Instead of the traditional worksheet, students will be moving around the room, finding and solving clues, applying their learning in math, science, reading etc. to find and solve more clues that eventually will lead them to solving the whole mystery. Students will be empowered and highly engaged in their own learning by using the BreakoutEdu game supplies to apply the 4 C's- critical and creative thinking, collaboration and communication. It takes the talent and thinking skills of all team members working collaboratively to solve the puzzles. Students need perseverance, grit, and the ability to fail forward to successfully complete each challenge. The BreakoutEdu games develop the skills of entrepreneurs, innovators, and game changers! The supplies will benefit all six of our fifth grade classes. The various locks are used to lock clues to solving the larger problem and guiding question. Students may need to solve a word puzzle and use the word lock, complete a math problem to know the correct numbers for a combination lock, or conduct a science investigation using ultra-violet flashlights that will lead them to another clue, with another problem, and a locked hint to finding the answer in the final locked box. The challenges come with time limits. The urgency to solve the mini-problems by unlocking the various clues ups the engagement and the need to collaborate and think outside the box!
