A majority of the students come from families that are struggling to meet the daily needs of a family. They are economically challenged and providing their child with basic needs for school has been and continues to be a constant burden on them. The families try to provide what they can for the student but many costs are picked up by the teachers themselves. 75% of students in the school receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Our school and the parents in the community who are able to help are a huge part of helping the school community at large by providing many donations, time and support to help all the students that attend our school. Making purchases such as books is not a high priority for them so it is my mission to provide books for every child. These books will be used as long as they hold up. We have lots of loved books that are still holding on. Some as old as 30 years. My second graders love to read and with your help they will continue to read more and more.
