The gift of reflective thought is the core of this project. Excerpts of these texts will be used to drive discussion in the classroom, challenging students to reflect on their identity in a digital world. I want my students to be leaders in a digital world, keenly aware of the nuances and challenges of thriving in a tech-driven world. At the end of the year-long class, each student will be gifted a book, You Are Not a Gadget: A Manifesto or Program or Be Programmed: Ten Commands for a Digital Age, and encouraged to extend the conversation into their pursuit of tech-related careers. I want to motivate young adults who are sensitive, critically thinking, and carefully deliberate in their use of technological tools.
