I teach at a low to middle income rural school district. My building is currently being changed to a K-4 building. Next year I will have 20 second grade students that come from two different buildings. This will be a big change for the students who are used to going to smaller buildings with less students. The students I currently have are excited to learn new things. They amaze me with the connections they can make from things we talked about months ago or from their own experiences. It is always an interesting day with these unique students that come from many different backgrounds. My job for this coming year is to get my new students to come together to be one community.
