I recently completed a Level 1 World Music Drumming training and I would love to start World Music Drumming in our classrooms. We only have three tubano drums presently. Our goal of obtaining ten more tubano drums would help us reach the number of tubanos needed for our class to perform an ensemble. This project will help us get closer to that goal. World Music Drumming helps students improve their listening and communicating skills while working cooperatively with the group on African and Caribbean Music. Students learn respect for each other as they perform Call-Response pieces and create their own Question-Answer music. Sharing cultural information about those living in other parts of the world and participating in their music fosters understanding and appreciation of cultures other than their own.
