Playing is how we all learn from an early age. When my students get to play and experience the joy that comes from playing, they have better learning outcomes. I want to give my junior high Spanish 1 and 2 students the opportunity to enjoy and learn Spanish by playing their favorite board games. We recently played a homemade laminated version of "Guess Who" and it was an amazing experience. Even the most reluctant learners were using their new vocabulary to figure out which person their partner had chosen. Kids were asking to do it again! With the Spanish board games I have chosen, all of my students will get to experience joy as they learn the language. I have chosen a selection of board games based on my students' interests and abilities, so there is something for everyone. The best way to increase language acquisition is through comprehensible input. My students read in Spanish, they listen to Spanish, and they love to play in Spanish. These board games will help take my students' Spanish abilities to the next level.
