The students love to read independently. They have designated time and a variety of books to choose from in their daily literacy block. When the children are asked to read at home, they often say they don't have anything to read. I loan them books in plastic bags for home reading, but I won't be able to do that this summer. Most of the children will not have access to Summer Reading Programs at the Public Library. In order to keep their brains active and avoid the Summer Slide, I want my students to have at least 3 books each to read.
