I have a very diverse population at my school. Most of my students are from stable homes and have plenty of expendable income. They have technology at their fingertips at home and are exposed to many different cultural experiences. These students would use devices for enrichment in my classroom and would be able to do things that most Kindergarteners wouldn't be expected to do. However, the other half of my students are from broken homes and are living in environments that aren't exactly suited to foster a young mind. Many of these students enter Kindergarten without ever having any experience using a computer or any type of technology other than a TV remote. At this time, my school does not have ANY technology for student use in our classrooms (other than Smartboards). So, these less fortunate students are falling further behind in our technology-driven world, just because they don't have the proper resources at this time.
