I have become crazed for teaching ukulele. I was able to teach my daughters' classrooms how to play their newly won ukuleles and it was the most fun teaching I have ever had and that says a lot because I have been teaching for 20 years and love every minute of it. I want to bring this passion to my school. I will start with my classroom but when I can get enough ukuleles for a whole GE classroom, I will open it up to other teachers hoping to inspire them to teach their classes. This is just the beginning. It is well documented that learning an instrument develops the brain in many ways, connecting both sides. They will perform for their parents and classmates with the hopes of inspiring them to learn as well. My students will learn to play basic chords, rhythms, and songs they know and love. It is my hope this will trickle into helping the local economy as well, supporting the small music shops with lessons, supplies, and a desire to keep on learning.
