My high school library is a welcoming space for students, teachers, parents and visitors. We are underfunded and have a constant need for print and ebooks, updated technology, makerspace supplies and more. Our students are 66% economically disadvantaged, and we are a racial, cultural and gender rainbow. One thing I love about our school is that there are very few cliques and not a lot of bullying. Students care about each other, and show it. I like to see my library as not only a hub for learning, of all kinds, but as a refuge and safe space for those needing a place that's a little quieter, but still bright and welcoming.
