Play is often overlooked in the kindergarten classroom and replaced by standards and objectives. However, there are many opportunities for learning while students play. They have the opportunity to enhance their social skills, practice their vocabulary and language, as well as practice newly acquired skills. Dramatic play engages children in life and learning, and these toys will help set the stage for multiple imagined scenarios in the classroom. Students can pretend to work in a sushi restaurant and be the chef, or the patron placing an order. They can visit the veterinary clinic or groomer with their pet. Or even a coffee house where they sit and listen to their friends newest writing. The possibilities are endless.
