My students all have multiple disabilities. They struggle with communication and with socializing with nondisabled peers. Our school is wonderful in providing a very accepting atmosphere. Unfortunately, the students are not able to communicate with my students in a meaningful way. While my students have ideas and interests similar to their peers, they cannot share their thoughts verbally. They would love to be able to ask a peer to join them for lunch or what kind of music they like. This is not possible with their disabilities. We would like to allow them the opportunity to socialize with peers using an iPad as a communication device.
