What used to be a farming community has now become a home to many 2nd and 3rd generation Hispanic families. Many of the parents work 2-3 jobs to support their children. Kids come to school with some basic needs met; they are clean and loved, but don't have a lot of extras. Our school feeds them breakfast and lunch. The achievement gap is leaving many of these students behind because they do not have technology or stimulating home environments. In order to catch up with their peers, they must learn more and learn it faster. Technology can be that catalyst that spurs them forward.
