Students will be taking on a year long independent research project. We are currently in the stages of the project in which I am demonstrating how to perform historical research and source analysis. In researching, students will use the colored index cards to take notes from their sources. Each card will be assigned to a specific subtopic or driving question that the students are attempting to answer. The folders will be used to organize the notecards so students will always have them together with a smaller chance of losing them. This project will allow students to learn valuable research skills while researching a topic that they are interested in. This project will also teach students how to evaluate sources for reliability and bias, which is a skill that will help them when consuming present day news stories as well.
