Our high school is one of the only high schools in our district to be implementing the Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS). The concept is simple: define behavior expectations, teach them to staff and students, and spontaneously and frequently reward the students who are following the behavior guidelines (instead of focusing and punishing those who are not). With PRIDE, we are creating a positive learning environment, validating good behavior, and building skills that will serve our students long after they have graduated. Students will get something we call "Bulldog Bucks" as an incentive for good behavior, doing well in school and just going above and beyond. These "Bulldog Bucks" are then able to be used in the student store for the journals, LED lights, supply kits, and other incentives. This helps the students feel more attached to the school as well as give them a sense of pride in their own accomplishments.
