Teaching and learning from home has been difficult from everyone. Many of my students are dealing with noisy environments already. It does not help when their teacher is dealing with a loud environment as well. I live in a large apartment complex located right next to another large apartment complex on a major thoroughfare. This results in a lot of cross noise from neighbors, gardeners, and traffic. Noise pollution is costing me instructional time and is at times hurting the quality of my instruction. It's hard to teach Plato's theory of the forms over a lawnmower.
Having noise-canceling headphones would allow me to give my students to give my students a quieter and more focused learning environment. This is especially important since I work with many English learners. Having to decipher what I am saying over the backdrop of extra noise does not help, nor am I able to provide them with the feedback they need when dealing with noise pollution. By donating to this project, you will be helping my students get closer to the focused learning environment and instruction they deserve.
