Each day my students are assigned to complete lessons on the iReady online support system for mathematics. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for them to concentrate because they do not have access to headphones for the computer. They become distracted so easily without this basic equipment. It definitely affects their ability to learn to the best of their ability. Your support with this item, will enable students to remain focused, thereby increasing their individual achievement levels. I strongly believe that I am preparing the mathematicians of the future, and must provide a supportive, engaging learning environment that propels them to greater learning. This involves the use of games and other hands-on, minds-on learning tools that will accomplish our classroom goals. I have asked for your support in providing specific grade level appropriate manipulatives, such as the Plastic Base Ten Starter Kit, Giant Magnetic Base Ten, Games Place Value Dice, and Even Steven and Odd Todd, just to mention a few. This items will be introduced to the students in the whole group setting, then moved to math stations for daily support. In addition to math goals, I have included materials designed to strengthen student achievement in the areas of social studies, and science. It has been my experience that an organized classroom is a successful classroom. To that end, I have requested a mobile office, that will be used to organize and transport learning materials between work and home, where strategic planning takes place regularly. I have also requested folders that will be used to organize my Differentiated Instructional Groups, where remediation takes place. It is my goal to develop well-rounded academically strong students. I am certain that with your support, these goals will be achieved.
