I teach 6th and 8th grades in a K-8 elementary school. Our school is settled in a small community on the outskirts the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. As a community school, we interact on a regular basis with the people who live in the community. Our teachers and administration work endlessly to create an environment of challenge while also providing enjoyable activities, field trips, and visitors into our school. We work with other teachers at other school to provide our students with opportunities for integrated field trips and units. My students are some of the most inspiring, bright, challenging young people I know. They want to learn and are willing to do just about whatever it takes to get there. They let me know what they really enjoy and what they don't. Many of our units, lessons and readings are based on inspirations they've had and brought to the classroom.
