Flexible seating allows for movement! For many kindergarten students this is their first experience in a classroom setting. It is often difficult for students 'to sit still'. Students who use flexible seating can use up excess energy, are better motivated and are highly engaged in their learning. I have seen the difference in my students. I removed the legs of two separate tables and made cushions for the students to sit on. These students can kneel or sit at the tables to do their work. These two tables are typically utilized first, before the other standard tables. I would like to provide flexible seating at the standard tables that allows for movement. Therefore, the K'motion stools would be utilized at the standard tables to give children choices. The Go Anywhere chair would be used by the students at the low tables, to provide them with a chair back, in case they want to sit cross legged on the floor.
