My students are practically starved for physical activity. Fourteen of my students have special needs, ten of which have some sort of attention deficit. These students need to be able to move around and multitask. Our school is in the poorest part of a town that Forbes called the 3rd most miserable city in America, meaning that my students cannot play outside at home without risking danger to themselves. I have heard gun shots from the school grounds on multiple occasions and twice I've had students not come to school because a family member was shot. I also have a very high ratio of boys to girls (2 to 1). All kids, but especially boys, were not made to sit still.
