Help my students experience the joy of growing food from seed to plant. Using an Aerogarden, sponges, plant food, pH monitors, and seeds, my students will work in regional cohorts to study the impact of variables such as light, temperature, and nutrient solution on plant growth. In addition to learning about hydroponics, my students will learn about our current drought and its ties to climate change. Not only do most of my students live in a food desert, even the apples in our school lunch come pre-sliced and sealed in a plastic bag, so this will be exciting for them! It's empowering and inspiring to eat what you've grown. This project will plant a seed that will bear fruit for many years to come!
