I teach a wonderful group of students. Because I spend so much time working with them in small groups, I get a chance to learn a lot about who my students are as people and learners. Although our school stands out from many because it is a Sage school and 75.4% of the students are low-income or English Language Learners, in many ways, my class is the same as every classroom in every school in America. I have high achievers and low achievers. I have auditory learners and kinesthetic learners. I have ELLs with limited English proficiency and high achieving students. This wide range of preferences and abilities is the fabric of the class that I teach. For this reason, I am very committed to providing a classroom experience that meets the needs of each learner whenever I can. I know what happens in my classroom does not always resemble what many people would imagine the perfect class to be, but it works for me. More importantly, it works for my students.
