My students come from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. They are always excited to learn new things and share their knowledge proudly. Many of my students begin to learn English the first day they start school in the United States. I admire the resilience and persistence of my English language learners. My language learners tend to acquire necessary language skills fast and, at the same time, are able to keep up with all other subjects. The main reason for this success is our classroom's community. All of my students are appreciative and respectful of the diversity. I teach them to be proud of our differences. Everyone feels safe to share ideas and participate in a variety of classroom activities. We often talk about how all of us learn in our own unique ways. I teach my students that it is them who are responsible for their own learning, and that I am always there to teach, to help them understand and provide them with lots of engaging practice.
