My ninth grade students are varied in ability. I have voracious readers and some reluctant readers that I work with. Our school includes a base of financially secure households and also has many students in more precarious situations. It is ethnically diverse but not fully integrated at the upper levels of courses. My students work hard and have made gains over the school year in reading and writing.
