The wooden blocks and glass marbles will be used by the students as they build games in the woodshop. The cost of wood and other supplies needed to make these games have gone up so much during Covid-19 that they cannot make as many games and projects that they normally would. By having the wood already cut to size, and finished, the students are able to save time in the shop and quickly build the game projects. Then, they can add a protective stain on the wood to finish it. My woodworking students love making these personal games that they play with their friends and family or they can give away a games as a gift. Some of these games have even been donated to the school to be used by other students during lunch recess or given to administrators and teachers as a sign of appreciation. As my students learn how to use these woodshop tools safely and make these games, they are learning life long skills, building self-confidence and creating healthy relationships with their peers by working together with a common goal.
