My school is life changing. We have 400 students who walk through the threshold every day. As their parents drive off, they trust us to guide their child to something better. We are an urban school with a primarily Hispanic population. Our families are amazing, they always volunteer to help when we have events and we have 100% parent teacher conference results and yet, half of my students are below grade level in their reading. Reading hasn't been the primary focus for our community and our families. Many of our families work multiple jobs to provide for their children and this situation pushes us to do more for the families that trust us with their children.
